What a perfect morning in Austin, TX for a run with a temperature of 47 degrees at 6:00 AM as we arrived at the Austin HS track across the road from Town Lake. I met Karen F. and we did a warm-up mile and then did our first 1 mile speed interval at 7:29. Then Tom showed up and then Karen H. and Steve S. showed up and they all joined us. In total Karen F. and I got in 8 speed interval miles and then we all went and did the 3 mile Town Lake People Bridge loop and then we went to Maudie's for breakfast tacos.
The sun was just rising against the Austin city skyline as we finished the 8 interval miles, a beautiful picture. I played the rabbit and led our group in the intervals with times of: 7:29, 7:17, 7:16, 7:17, 7:11, 7:15, 7:18, 7:14. The rest of our group ran in the range of 7:22 to 7:28. We all had a great morning of speed intervals. Of course my times are 30 seconds a mile slower than I would have done 5 years ago but, oh well it was a great workout.
Next week we do the Susan G. Koeman 5K race here in Austin. Prednisone medication update: I'm back on 5 mg a day since the week at 2 mg a day left too much pain in the back and shoulders. I think I'll drop back to 4 mg on Monday. Nobody knows what starts this darn Polymyalgia Rheumatica and there is no cure, as it just has to run its course. |
