(see picture above - Karen H.; Karen F.; Me; Carey) (Karen H. & Carey did an Ironman in Idaho in June 2007) . . . . ENTRY 3: St. George Marathon 2001 3:18:03; 2002 3:15:56; 2003 3:18:04; 2004 3:19:03; 2005 3:37:21; 2006 & 2007 did not make the lottery. 2008 3:54:04 (tough).  .  .  .  . ENTRY 4: 2007 San Antonio Marathon - 1st place age group 60-64. . . . . ENTRY 5: Eight consecutive Boston Marathons since 2001. Best time so far was 3:35:09 in 2003. Age 55. . . . . . Short-Term Running Goals:

Entry 1:  Get in a full 6 months of prep for 2009 Boston, no excuses, run a strong Boston. . . . .Entry 2: Use Pilates methods for core strengthening and flexibility improvements.. . . . . . Entry 3: Get completely healed from the muscle disorder that has plagued me since February 2006 (Polymyalgia Rheumatica)

Long-Term Running Goals:

Entry 1. Complete 10 consecutive Boston Marathons - I have done 8 so far. . . . . . . Entry 2. Continue running marathons through my 60's and into my 70's, 80's and 90's.

Personal:

Married, 2 children, 2 grand children. My 9 year old grand-daughter is convinced she is a runner.  My 4 year old grandson loves to wear his Boston Marathon and Pikes Peak Marathon t-shirts.  He wants to run the mountain with grandpa.

Arrived at Brushy Creek Park at 4:00 PM.  Cold temps in the 30's.  I way overdressed and ended up removing my gloves, hat, and long sleeve shirt.  Ran a relaxing easy pace for the entire 10 miles and felt really good.  The purpose of this run was as a recovery type run, after combining last night's 10 mile run with 2 speed miles. 

This is the 3rd consecutive day at 10 or more miles.  I'm going to try to get more running days per week with more miles per day.  The letsrun.com web page really makes a point of getting in the weekly miles and also mixing in lots of easy relaxing days to get recovery runs.  So far so good.  This Saturday we are doing 18 miles so that will put me over 50 miles this week for the first time in over a year.

Your putting in a good structure for your training by getting a lot of miles at an aerobic pace. Mixing up your runs is good.

I really hope and pray you have the race of

your life in Boston this year. I wish I could be there, but money, money money is the issue.

I really like how focused you are in your running and your determination. Maybe someday we can run together.

Kory, thanks for the note. These longer distances are an experiment on myself to see how my body handles the longer runs on a regular basis. Lets hope that St. George will be the place to meet you and do a run together.
